Maybe you could try pinterest, you can create a collection of images there and it tracks the source for you (I believe). I wasn't meaning to cause a big mess, I just saw a couple of pieces of artwork of people that I either used to work with or currently work with and wanted to see them credited. Sorry to have been a debbie downer.

unfortunately pinterest doesnt allow private boards so i feel like the same thing will happen. as soon as i figure out how to archive this to my harddrive i will probably use dropbox or make it a private tumblr for myself

I know that this page may not have been intended to be public, but it's pretty hard not to gain traffic with a collection this thorough! At this point, the two responsible choices would be to start writing names or taking everything down... I'm sorry to hear that you have gone with the latter...but it's still a choice that's responsible to the artists. There aren't enough mech tumblrs. Cheers.

thanks man, yeah i thought about actually going through and giving credit to every piece but realistically i dont have the time to do that. my main respect and motivation is for the artists and they are feeling disrespected so i will not make things public

ok so im not sure which specific picture i added to my tumblr of his, but sometimes when work is featured on another site it might not be a watermarked image. this work is watermarked on his site:

again, should i have taken the extra time to write his name in the text box before i hit the reblog button? yeah probably. but mechblog was never ment for anything other than my own personal collection of pictures for my own use. i never promoted it, never tried to gain traffic, i just used tumblr because it was simple and easy and i could do it from other computers. that and i cannot make my main tumblr private.

unfortunately tumblrRipper is PC only and tumblr backup zip file link is broken so im still trying to find another method of downloading and archiving this tumblr before i take it down and move it to a private site. any suggestions would be appreciated.

I also wanted to point out that you have artwork posted that has been altered to REMOVE the true creators water marks.

if i dont want to spend the time to link the pictures back to the source while im at work when i post these, you think ill spend the time to actually remove watermarks? really?

You know copyright infringement has nothing to do if you are making money or not. I don't understand why it would be so hard to link to the source (since you claim it's so easy to find it anyway). Or is it you don't want to link to peoples sites so they don't see the referral traffic and find out about your blog.

again, i dont link the source because its just a personal collection of artwork that i like and it happens to be accessed by the public. either way, im taking the site down and moving it to a private place

You seem to be posting a lot of concept art, and those people need to eat too. And as a concept artist, man I got no time to comb the internet for people posting my work without giving credit (if I did, I wouldn't have any time to actually make work). Making sure people respect me shouldn't be my responsibility... it should be your responsibility to be respectful to the people that make your blog what it is to begin with.

im a fan of the artwork and im not interested in disrespecting the artists. this is just for me and it happens to be public. obviously multiple people are upset about this so ill figure out how to make this thing not available to the public

I do know a lot of the artists that you are posting their work of and honestly a lot of them are not happy about it. I know you are linking to the nuthing but mech book, and that is a great start, but really a link with each post would do wonders for you. Really, without a link, your whole site is illegal on the basis of copyright infringement.

im not making a profit from the site, im not advertising the site, its just a personal collection of pictures i found on the internet that happens to be accessable by the public. and if there is an artist whose work is on my tumblr and is unhappy about it, then they are free to contact me and i will either take their work off or just make the entire site private.

Yeah if it's a personal repository it should really be private... like a folder on your computer. I'd hate it if my stuff was posted and reblogged the hell out of and nobody knew who did it. Also sucks a lot if the artist is trying to make money off their work too, which is majorly disrespectful. Kinda defeats the purpose of putting your art online at all.

bro, i dont advertise my site or try to gain traffic, its easier than a folder on my computer because i can add to it from multiple locations, all the artwork on here was put online for free on the internet to begin with, and some how i seriously doubt people are making bank with their mech work on the internets. if you dont like it, dont look at it. simple as that.

oh and buy Nuthin’ But Mech. i did because i support artists by actually buying stuff.
